Munk Debates is a Canadian platform hosting high-profile debates, discussions, and podcasts on political, economic, and cultural issues. Its flagship mainstage debates, alongside its digital content and membership initiatives, reach a significant audience and play a crucial role in fostering informed public discourse.
Uncommon Sense first began working with Munk Debates in early 2021. Our initial engagement with them focused on brand repositioning and proposition development. This work quickly expanded into full-channel marketing campaigns, which we designed to drive awareness, engagement, and membership conversion for Munk’s flagship mainstage debates.
These campaigns contributed directly to a significant surge in memberships and culminated in their most viewed debate to date – Douglas Murray on Anti-Zionism.
In conjunction with this exciting work, we additionally led a complete website redesign and rebuild, including the migration of legacy content, and new content architecture to support debates, podcasts, and gated member content.
We also undertake ongoing, day-to-day support, serving as Munk Debates’ embedded digital and communications partner – providing strategic input and hands-on support across multiple functions. Such ongoing work includes:
- Website management and development coordination.
- Email marketing and membership communications.
- Campaign planning and copywriting.
- Technical scoping and QA.
- Liaison between internal teams (ops, finance, content) and external collaborators (developers, designers).
We also provide rapid-turnaround support around debate launches, podcast rollouts, and new membership initiatives – ensuring consistent delivery and alignment with the brand’s evolving goals.
Our ongoing partnership with Munk Debates demonstrates our ability to embed seamlessly into a client’s organisation, working across strategy, execution, and platform development. It reflects our ability to balance long-term transformation projects (such as full brand and site rebuilds) with the day-to-day reliability and responsiveness needed to support a live, content-driven operation.
Just as importantly, this service highlights our strength in helping legacy institutions evolve – translating traditional authority into modern digital credibility without compromising brand values.
